Laura Evans | Head Coach
Laura Evans will begin her first season coaching Bethany in the fall of 2023.
Evans comes to BLC after serving as head coach at University of Wisconsin-Stout from 2014-17. During her tenure at Stout, the Blue Devils posted an overall record of 60-62 and an 11-18 mark in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), including a 20-10 mark in 2014 securing the program's first 20-win season in a decade. Evans' teams reached the WIAC conference tournament in each of her four seasons at the helm.
Evans' coaching experience began in 2009 when she was an assistant at Luther College (Iowa) helping lead the team to a 26-12 overall record and advancing to the second round of the NCAA DIII National Tournament.
Evans also served in an assistant coaching role at Augsburg University (Minnesota) from 2010-12. In her two seasons with the Auggies, the team posted winning records including the school's second-ever trip to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Tournament in 2011.
Evans moved on to serve as an assistant at Colorado Christian University in 2012-13. The team reached the semifinals of the conference tournament and also gained an NCAA Tournament berth.
A native of Dodge Center, Minnesota, Evans played high school volleyball at Kasson-Mantorville for her father, Larry, earning All-State and All-State Tournament honors. She finished her career with a school record 1,496 kills.
Evans began her collegiate career at South Dakota State University in 2003 before transferring to Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) and played for the Mustangs between 2004-08. During her career at SMSU the team compiled an 81-23 record. She served as team captain for the Mustangs for three years. Evans posted 741 kills and 74 service aces and helped lead the Mustangs to two top-10 national rankings. During her junior season, she was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Player of the Week and went on to be named to the North Central Regional All-Tournament Team.
Evans and her husband, Jared, a former All-American wrestler at Augsburg University, reside in New Richland, Minnesota, with their three children.
